Ida- ho, through the Nonpar- tisan league, captured all the nominations on the Democratic ticket in the state at the recent primary, the reactionary, anti-Wilson 'Democrats have gained control of the Democratic state committee. Jerome J. Day, self-confessed and notorious anti-Wilson Democrat, has ‘been chosen as chairman of the state committee, while all the official nom- inees, of the party are progressive Democrats elected with the indorse- ment of the Nonpartisan league. When the state central committee met, after choosing an anti-Wilson chairman, a resolution was offered by a Nonpartisan league delegate upon the urgent request of H. F. Samuels, successful Democratic candidate for governor in the recent primaries. Samuels swept the state at the pri- maries, with the indorsement of the Nonpartisan league. .The resolution offered on his behalf indorsed Presi- dent Wilson’s war aims and leader- ship of the Democratic party and: urged him as a candidate for presi- dent again in 1920. - This resolution was voted down by the reactionary Democrats in_control of the committee. This remarkable situation will prob- ably have no important bearing on the campaign in the state. The pro- gressive Democrats, who .are stand- i"ing by President Wilson, nominated all of their candidates for state office . and they will be elected with the in- dorsement of the Nonpartisan league, and the fact that the formal state committee of the Democratic party is reactionary and in the control of the anti-Wilson faction will have little I THEY TOLD THE TRUTH Insurance Agent Ours would be a good deal Tote prof- itable line ‘were it not for ‘the fact - that there. are about five: times as many of us as the pubhc needs.
