S BESL AL N TR LG - iz, - Pt i . -NOT FOOLED BY THE PRESS Little Falls, N. Y. Editor Nonpartisan Leader: My attention was called to your magazine and the organized move- ment for which it stands, by a lengthy article in one of our New York City papers recently, criticizing its patri- otism and purity, which led me to send for a sample copy, which was re- ceived. Some of us are learning to read our leading .newspapers and magazines with understanding. I have been thoroughly imbued with the political policy of the Nonpartisan league. We hold party organization to be a logical and natural sequence in a . republic, but it is not a necessary requisite that individuality shall be absorbed by them. It is this funda- mental truth which gives rise to the nonpartisan policy. Its wisdom will appeal to all men and women whose interests in public affairs are unselfish and loyal to the principles upon which our government was formed. The same evolutionary forces that evolved the Declaration of Independ- ence are evolving the Nonpartisan league, to bring us out of chaos and save our democratic institutions. By force of arms we shall crush the forces of autocracy, and make the world safe for democracy. By intel- ligent use of the ballot and party or- ganization, the American people will keep the light of liberty and freedom burning. 4 The Nonpartisan league has a wonderful mission full of potential promise, destined to lift the electorate -and the nation to higher planes of wis- dom. It liberates the individual from combined forces which have rendered the tillers politically helpless and destitute. Its crowning glory will be the elimination of economic oppres- sion and the consummation of econom- ic and moral freedom. £ Hail to the Nonpartisan league as the fountain from which the new stream of life shall flow!
