IDAHO NAMES LEAGUE TICKET | = (Continued from page 3) me in this manner. It’s a great work we have undertaken and I want to see it through. “I have never had any ambition for office, and the question that strikes me is, how will I square myself when my wife knows it. lieve me, but she absolutely is opposed for me to have any office. THE HIRED MAN OF THE PEOPLE “Now, then, if you will allow me, in the language of a humble citizen, . to express my feelings in the language of Washington, the father of our country, which was, ‘I am ready to serve my country \in any .capacity,’ and that is the way that I feel in this regard, and I want to say tha: if I am elected I want you to stand back of me and help solve the problems of Idaho. “The .position that I take in regard to the governor of Idaho is that he is the hired man of the people of the state of Idaho. Now, believe me, I do not want you, to take what I say of a hired man‘in the term of contempt, but in its real meaning. For in its real meaning it is the laborer and the producer, or the hiréd man, if you please, who is entitled to a seat in- the front row of the palace of honor and development. I want this distinct- ly understood, and I do not want any man who is spokesman in behalf of the farmers and lahorers of this state, to represent to the voters anything in which we do not intend to make good —to come true. We want to tell them what we want to do and what we in- tend to do. Now, ladies and gentle- men, I am not going to make the statement that we are going to save a ‘million dollars in the taxes of this state;-because the farmers and labor- ers of-this state know that when they want to do anything, they have got to have money to do it, but we want to promise you that every dollar that you put into taxes that you will be returned its equivalent.” THE PART OF < ORGANIZED LABOR .The labor delegates to the conven- tion placed the name of William A. Fife, for-20 years conductor on the Oregon Short Line railroad in Idaho, ‘before the convention for secretary of state and the farmers indorsed him. Mr. Fife is one of the best known labor men in Idaho. He has never “Sought public office and -was drafted from his train and called to Bmse. . Oscar G. Zuck is a farmer from the southern part of the state. He has always been an active. and ardent worker in farm improvements. His indorsement came to him as a sur- prise:and although he has" served in the state senate he had no ambitions even to return to that office. W. P. Rice of Jerome" is another farmer conscripted from his farm to ‘the pohtlcal arena. A hard worker, prominent in farm improvements and _ a man whose neighbors have fre- quently called upon. to -appear before the legislative sessions to present their needs and wants, his indorse- Y ment was enthusiastically received. B.A: Cummings of Pocatello has Served as state senator, He is an at- torney and well known to the farm- ers as a man who during his term in " the senate fought their fights. Mr. Cummings was called to Boise and accepted his indorsement. 3 The labor delegates asked for the /~.-mine inspector, and: Mike: Villeneuve You may not be-, ser, a newspaper editor, who has been / fighting the battles of the farmers for years, was indorsed, much to his surprise. Mr. Purcell was in Boise attending the mass convention when notified of his indorsement. In the other district ‘the farmers drafted a man from the farm, select- ing C. R. Jeppesen of Arco. Mr. Jep- pesen has been dodging his farmer friends for years in the political field. He has never sought public office and although his friends nominated and elected him as justice of peace one time he refused to qualify for the office. “I have eight children-and a ranch’ to-take care of,” he said to them, and tried to say the same thing this year, but the delegates would not listen to a plea to withdraw. As a result of the action of the farmers he will make the race. He was born in Utah and has ‘raveled through most of Europe. His nomination caused a big demon- cwration among the Arco district farmers, who have known of his work and feelings for years and have tried repeatedly to get him to accept public office without success. State Tréasurer John W. Eagleson and Superintendent of Public Instruec- tion Ethel R. Redfield were unani- mously indorsed for re-election. Both have made good records in their of- fices. Both have won many friends in the ranks of the farmers and or- ganized labor. = The convention spent two days working over its platform, which was adopted late July 4, the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The new state committee was named, with Mr. Scholtz as chairman, and C. W. Booth of Nez Perce, Riley ~Rice of Idaho county, Fred P. Efench of Payette county, O. M. Tronaas of Gooding county and James Gillispie of Madison county, as members. “With this ticket we can make Idaho safe for democracy and democ- racy safe in Idaho, and at the same time help make the world’ safe for democracy, ‘and save the state and nation from autocracy and plutoc- racy,” one delegate to the convention summed it up upon adjournment. And he voiced the sentiments. of more than 50,000 farmers and their . 'wives in Idaho. AIR TIGHT IN COLORADO Cheyenne Wells, Col. Editor Nonpartishn Leader: Thanks from the farmers of this county. Mr. Thomason made "a splendid “" speech, showing how the farmers are helping the government in its fight to ' ‘make the world safe for humanity and how The Nonpartisan program- will help the farmers and consumers in their efforts for a better understand- ing of their needs. Nuxated Iron.” General Horatio Gates Gibson says Nuxated Iron as brought back to him in good measure that old buoyancy and energy that filled his veins in 1847 when- he made his tri- umphant . entry with Gen- eral Scott into the City of Mexico and he feels that every soldier who goes the front should take Nuxated Iron. Another remarkable case is that of General David Stuart Gordon, noted In- dian fighter and hero of the battle _of Gettysburg. General Gordon says: “When I became_ badly rundown this year, I found myself totally without the § physical power to ‘come back’ as I had done in my younger days. I tried dif- ferent so-called ‘tonics’ without: feeling any but finally I heard of how physicians were widely recommending organic iron to renew red blood and rebuild strength in worn-out bodies. As a result I started taking Nuxated Iron and within a month it had roused my weakened vital forces and made ‘me_feel strong again, giving me endurance such as I never hoped to again possess.’ Another interesting case is that of General John Lincoln Clem, who at the early age of 12 years was Sergeant in the U. S. Army and the last veferan of the Civil War to remain on-the U. Army active list. Gen- eral Clem says: "I ‘find in Nuxated Iron the one and ever-reliable tonic. Two months after beginning the treatment I am a well man.” And then there is Judge Samuel S. Yoder, Statesman, Jurist and for 18 years a practic- ing physician—formerly Surgeon Major in the tremendous strength, power and endurance, b To help pro- duce this result there is nothing in my experience have found so valuable as organic iron —Nuxated Iron, says Dr. Jamés Francis Sullivan, formerly Physician of Bellevue Hospital (Outd New York, and the Westchester County with looxr Wgsf Army and now Commander in Chief of the Union Veteran Union, who says: “Nuxa Iron restores, revivifies and rehabilitates the sys- tem. To the man of 70 as I am 3 it is just as certain, just as effi- cacious as to the youth in his teens.” It 18 surprising how many people suffer from iron deficiency and do not know it. If you are not strong or well you owe it to yourself to make the following test: how long you can work or how far you can walk without becoming tired. Next take two five- grain_ tablets of Nuxated Iron three times per day after meals for two weeks. Then test your strength again and see how much you “have gained. Manufacturers’ Note: Nuxated Iron which is pre- seribed by Dr. Sullivan, and which h: en _ by Generals Gibson,.
