| il it " On pages 12 and 13 of this issue of the Leader— the very center of the paper—are the names of all tfie men indorsed by the Nonpartisan League. In addition there are sample ballots, showing how members of the League will vote in the approaching fall election. This js the authorized list of indorsements by the League. The men supports n6 others. The Leader "snpports no others. Especially, do not Birdzell and Grace, whose names are printed in those lists of indorsements and marked on. the ballots’ with an “X” after them are the men the League and the Leader are supporting,; TR e i Some of these men are on the Republican ticket; some are on the Democratic ticket; some -are on-the Socialist ticket, some are labeled *Ind.,” meaning Independent and_ some are on “Nonpartisan” tickets: The - League”will- elect-all of these men; if possible, no matter on what . ticket their names appear.- These are the men indorsed by YOUR OWN ~ STATE AND DISTRICT CONVENTIONS. The League-is not support~ ing any other candidates and the Leader d"oes\not support-any ot@ei‘ candidates. Gh i B The Leader DOES NOT SUPPORT ANY CANDIDATE FOR THE UNITED STATES SENATE; The League is not supporting any candi- date for the United States’senate, for the reason that the farmers in their conventiori DID NOT INDORSE ANY CANDIDATE FOR THIS OFFICE. For the same reason neither the League nor the Leader are supporting any eandidates for congress, or for district judges or for any county offices. ’ . In the advertising columns are the NAMES OF OTHER CANDI- DATES, WHO ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THE LEAGUE OR THE LEADER. Their names appear in' “PAID POLITICAL ADVERTISE- ' MENTS.” These -advertisements are PAID FOR BY THE CANDI- DATES THEMSELVES OR BY SOME POLITICAL PARTY OR ORGANIZATION. The Leader’s ADVERTISING columns are open to ALL CANDIDATES who pay the rates required for that class of adver- tising. But the fact that the name of any candidate appears in the columns of “Paid Political Advertising” does not mean that the candi- dates has the support of the League or the Leader. DON'T BE MISLED BY THIS POLITICAL ADVERTISING. Don’t assume, because the names of men indorsed by the Leaguye appear in lists printed in the ADVERTISING COLUMNS, that ALL THE NAMES ON SUCH LISTS are those of League candidates. Consult the AUTHORIZED LIST of League candidates on pages 12 and 18, Notice. whether the list or advertisement has over it the words “Paid Political ‘Advertisement.” If it has it is not a list of League candidates, but a: . list of PARTY CANDIDATES. ‘ The Nonpartisan Leader does not supimrt and will not support any candidate for office NOT INDORSED BY THE LEAGUE: . Further than that the Leader opposes with all its power the election of candidates who are running in .opposition to candidates indorsed by the farmers in their ‘conventions. z . John Steen is the Republican candidate for state treasurer. - He is. not the League candidate. The League’s candidate is P. M. Casey, who is running on the Democratic ticket. The Leader supports Casey. Tt OPPOSES the 'elqction of the Republican, Steen. Casey represents the farmers’ interests, Steen does not. The Leader supports Casey because the farmers indorsed him. Mr. Steen’s name appears on the Republican ticket printed in the Leader as a PAID ADVERTISEMENT—,paid for by the Republican state organization.’ The Republican party ticket does not carry with it the indorsement either of the League or the Leader, The League opposes the re-election of the present members of the ‘supreme court and supportssRobinson, Birdzell and Grace, because the farmers. indorsed Robinson, Birdzell and Grace and because the Leader | ~ believes Robinson, Birdzell and Gracé the men best fitted, as judges of - the supreme court, to serve the-interests- of the whole people of _VNor.thv \ ‘Dakota. o : * Consult the list of candidates on pages 12 and 13 and be sure to' vote for ALL THE MEN INDORSED BY THE LEAGUE.
