The enlargement is inconsiderablo and amounts only to about $1,000,000, which is offset by a decrease in the compounds amounting to about $1,900,000. Tho gold certificates have increased 3,500,000, and the coin balance in the Treasury has declined $500,000. The currency balance has accumu- lated $12,000,000 during the month, and now amounts to $45,000,187. The total amount of tho debt, exclu- sive of cash in the Treasury, shows an increase of about $9,000,000. The statement exlubits a very slow progress in funding. No more than $10,000,000 of 5-20 bonds have been sold, and some 15,000,000 of 7.308 and compounds have been taken in and can- celed. }:3 The following are the comparative eamings of the Michigan Central Railroad for the tlird week in Januvary : 1867.. .mnm,.‘.vmmlxm....MIm The receipts on the Atlantio and Great Western - 38 | Railway tor the month of January amoiut to $301,- 137, against $504,991 in the corresponding month of 1866, exhibiting a decrease of §143,854.
