LOGAN, SENATOR WILSON AND OTHERS. Special Dispatch to The N, Y. Tribune. CHICAGO, Thursday, Sept, 27, 1866, The graudest Union rally in the North-West was ex- peeted to take place at Rock Island yesterday, under the auspices of the *“ Grand Army of the Republic,” but the woality has far surpassed the most sanguine hopes. Gen. J.ogan was the hero of the day, and to him it seemed to ahe soldiers impossible to do to) much honor. He arnved By the boat on Tuesday cvening, and was received and escorted to his hotel with overy demonstration of en- thusiastic weleome. At9 o'clock he was serenaded by military bazds, and responded with a brief but very elo- quent address e thousand veterans from Illinois and Jowa, representing a large number of regiments, were jized \n wilitary colums uuder the tattered bunners they had triumphuntly borne through the deadliest strug- gles, and this splendid brigade was formally reviewed by Gen. Logan, Gen. Harding, Gen. Nickles, Gen. Leak, nad Col dsley in the presence of 30,000 applauding Bpectators. After the review, the soldiers of the grand army of the Fepublic marched o their pment in & beautiful grove, about a mile from the Court-House, on the Caw- Gen vosd. Camp guards were posted, and the diffcrent yegimental flags were unfurled in a line in front. In the Fear of the cacampment the platform was erceted, where he speaking was to take place. The proceedings at the stand were comm need with & few introductory remarks £om Gen. Lieak, who was introducad by Capt. Blackburn, Chairman. Capt. Biacl then brought up Gen. Logan, who presented ihe issues in detail in an bour's speech of amarked ability. He closed awid the most intguse applause and enthusiasm. After mnsic the Chairman introd from Massachus. S r Wilse an by remarkin, Tuat little cou ¢ him to utter after the speec vho had just spoken to thel sympathy. He had boen great in couneil and great in war. There were a arms re- willion of soldiers at home to-day, before ellon went down; but Rebellion then conguered prostrate, is 2ow as defient against the Government and principles for which we fought as when the arch chief's ahrone was in Richmond. ‘or this Andrew Johuson is yesponsible.
