The transactions at the Board were small. The miscellaneous shares continue setive. Quicksilver, on rumors of a strike,sold down to 45, but rallied to 46§ and closed firm. Cauton was active, sell- Ingat 51§@54, closing at 53}, Mariposa Preferred sold at B1j, and was in request at that price. Railway and State Dends were steady with unimportant transactions. The Railway share market opened dull and heavy, and the Srausections were very small at the First Board, and there appeared to be but little disposition *80 operate. After the call there was more setivity and Erie was bid up to 75}, but immediately re- Japsed to 74}, Hudson River was very strong and sold up 0 110}, and was the strongest stockson the list. The bal- sace of the list eympathized with Erie and Hudson, and sdvanced a fraction, but the market did not hold, and ofter the Second Board all stocks were offered at the prices of the morning. The market has but little strength and Shere is no desire shown to purchase for an advance by he large operators, and with an increasing abundance of mooney the volume of business was steadily on the decline.
