Ferdinand Behringer, twenty-eight years of age, strived in this city September 15 from Zurich, Swit- serland, with his wife and two children, and took lodgings at a boarding house in West Nineteenth street, He was a furniture maker by trade, had $1,600 in ready money, and with that amount hoped to start in ‘business. His first desire, however, was to provide a home for his family, and with this object in view he had rented rooms and selected furniture at a store on Fighth avenue, On the morning of the 17th ult. he left his wife, carrying with him his $1,600, intend- ing to use somie of it in paying for the furniture and ‘also to buy a stove. Since morning he has never been seen or heard from by his wits and chil- dren, and his fate or whereabouts has never been ascertained. His family were left without a dollar In their possession, and in this extremity the wife of the missing man was obliged to send her little children to an orphan asylum, while she herself went to live out in a German fami! oe She called at the Coroner's office yesterday and juested to be shown the record and effects of a ly which was found in the East River, at pier 36, on the 27th ult. She ssid she had read of the case, and thought, by the description, the body might be that of her missing husband. The clothing and effects had not been forwarded to the Coroner's office, and she was advised to visit the Morgue and the Seventh precinct station house, in either of which places it is thou Moy these articles have been detained. Her husband's life was Gog for hg in Germany, and that sum can only be recovered b: roofs of his death. She believes that he un» ween foully dealt with. THE TRIMBLE DIVORCE. In the matter of the motion made in the Kings County Supreme Court, before Judge Gilbertgto open the decree in the suit for absolute divorce of Fannie 3. Trimble against Frank Trimble, on October 14, His onor yesterday gave an order sending the case to General Roger A. Pryor to take proof. The defendant was | at one time employed in the Comptroller's office, this city, and is now connected with ‘the Park Theatre. divorce wi secured on May 23, 1876, in Queens county. It w: claimed by defendant's counsel, when the Gena to reopen was made, that there had jury, irregularity and fraud. Plaintiff isthe angie of Henry Smith, # prominent lawyer of Albany. Defendant rays that Laurie, on whose testim prin- cipally the ‘ree of divorce was obtained, is now serving a term in the Albany Penitentiary for ‘perjury under the name of William H. Gildersleeve. Laurie testified that he had followed defendant and a woman named Gallagher to a house of ill fame, which defend- ant denies. Plaintiff in her affidavit says that the object of the motion is to annoy herself, her present husband and her family. The affidavit of Counsellor Henry J.
