R—FREIGHTS WEAK. Frivay, May 11—6 P. M. The trade movement has been moderate during the past week, although the markets have been irregular and exceedingly feverish in numerous instatices, and especially in those commodities which were influenced by the war, The excitement which obtained all along back has, in 4 great measure, abated, but the conse- quences of it are yet manifost in the inflated values and the fluctuations which are coustantly taking place, The movement im breadstufls has beep very slow during the week and prices have favored the buyer, although, in view of depleted stocks afd insignificant receipts, holders have endeavored to obtain full prices, but the de- mand has so slackened off that they have found It impus- sible to realize the top prices for either flour or whout. ‘There has been no speculation of moment in this market since the commencement of the Inte extraordinary ud- vance, which was direct result of tho outbreak of war in Europe and un anticipated uctive demand for shipment hence, coupled with the very small stock and the insiguiti- cant receipts at this port ever sinc the close of lake and canal navigation last fall, Bat it is « question whether oven with» greatly depleted stock, in the absence of any speculative feeling and with ths local millers and shippers holding uloof, the present high prices can be muintained, Wore there any speculation, ‘or even an ordinary export dorsand, however, there would probably be no difficulty in realising even bicher prices than have yet been paid, Corn has been altogether less active, the evidences of a superabun- dauce everywhere hiving dampened the ardor of the specu lators mutertully, ‘The month ot Muy ts oversold, however, ‘and prices for this mouth’s delivery are relatively higher than any other, Spot corn for this period is vearce and com. paratively high, Outs have been very trrezulur, being excited and decidedly higher during the first part of the weok, but subsequently unsettled and lower, the week closing with @ better feeling, however. Whiskey bas been very dull aud prices ure rather lower, Provistons have also been irrogular, and toward the last of the woek ull kinds were lower, with more activity at the declife, Deugs have been somewhat irrogulur, but less ex- cited than # weok of two ago, althouzh prices remain in numerous instances decidedly firm at the lute advance.
