Notwithstanding the fuct that the news from Eastern Europe comes freighted with the “pride, pomp and circumstance of glorious war,’ the great money marts of the world show little disturbance and the price of gold at home tends downward, The advance which bas taken place in the premium has been especially due to the vague idea that the foreign holders of our bonds would, in case of war, return them here for sale, They were looked upon as vagrant chickens that were likely to come home to roost at an inopportune moment, and tho rise in the gold premium was simply an expression that their room was considered better than tucir com- pany.
