The call is made at the request of the Byndicate, and shows that they are finding a ready market in Europe for the new fives. There remain outstanding $19,755,000 called bonds on which Interest | has ceased. The bonds called are of the act of June 30, 1864, The called bonds of the issue of 1862 are of tho coupon class, nearly all of them being held in Europe, Of the issue of 1864 about $12,700,000 are of the regis- tered class, chiefly held in this country. Of the fifty-eight national banks in the city one pays 7 per cent, four 6, eleven 5, three 44, twenty-one 4, four 344, ten , 3 per cent, one passes, two not declared and one divides January and July. The banks of Boston, under the laws of Massachusetts, pay their municipal tax direct to the city at the rate of $13 70 on cach $1,000 of tax- able value May 1, which is rated on the market price of the shares at that date, The dividends are made net | and the shares free of taxes to holders. The aggregate tax amounts to $932,843, of which Boston gets only $247,154, the remainder ($665,649) going to the Tax Commissioner, CALIFORNIA NEWS. The Nevada Bank, of San Francisco, opens to-day with acash capital of $5,000,000 in gold and the right to Increase, at the pleasure of the trustees, to $20,000,000. The bank was organized last spring by a party of the richest men on the Pacific coast, whose wealth was derived from the gold and silver mines of California and Nevada, They are known as the Consolidated Virginia party, as the famous mine of that name is owned and managed by them.
