In some instances considerable excitement attended the transac- tions. A sharp movement- was observable in securities that have been heretofore neglected. Higher prices were established than nave been known for many months. The prevalent feeling is decidedly iavorable to a firmer market, al- though reactions are expected, and purchases May possibly be made at lower than present gures. MORE KEROSENE. 4 BROOKLYN GIRL’S TERRIBLE FATE IN JERSEY. Mary Roth, a young girl of seventeen, whose parents reside in Brooklyn, was terribly and fatally burned with kerosene oil in Bloomflela, N. J., on Friday morning. It seems that while dust- ing the mantelpiece in the house of Mr. Reea, where Mary was employed asa domestic. she had in one hend a kerosene lamp, the bottom of which droppea out, and the oll Was spilled ~, upon the bot stove, where It at once ignited, setting fire to the girl’s ciotning and almost tn- stantly enveloping ler whole person in flames. The flames were soon extinguished, but the anfor- tunate girl was shockingly burned, her body 1m many places being charred to a crisp and present- ing & most shocking spectacle, The poor creature was removed to St. Michael’s Hospital, Newark, where she suffered terribly, despite the best of medical attendance.
