The trial of Hester J. Haskins, who is charged with the crime of abduction for infamous pur- poser, was commenced in this Court yerterday. Teresa Goetz, a girl about fourteen years of age, was the complaining witness and testifled that she lived with her aunt in Delancey street; that ' on the 9th of December last she went to the apart- ments of tbe prisoner, 93 Greene street, selling dried peas; that the mother of the accused pur- enased sore and requested her to return for the payment; that she did so and = then saw the prisoner, who invited her to take a walk, and that alter waik- lng the street til two o'clock, returned to the prisover’s rooms, where sue stayed ail might. The witness further stated that sne was kept there for two weeks ugainst ber will and was compelied to have improper intercourse with men. and that on one occasion she screamed and @ young Man Who Was in the houxe sought to pro- tect her trom the improper assault of a man and also from violence on the partof the prisoner's husbacd.
