M. The merchandise markets were without note- worthy change, although in some quarters there Was some depression and some recession in prices. On ’Ohange four was firm, with a moderate in- quiry for shipping extras. Wheat was less active and lower, the market closing duil and heavy. Business was small, the bids being generally too low to admit of sales. Corn was dull and decidedly lower. Oats Were also off a little. Barley was dull, lower and nearly nominal for most kinds. Provisions were generally quiet. Lard was lower, but more active atthe decline. Pork was steady. Groceries were {i Tegular.
