Commodore William Inman. Commodore William Inman, tue oldest retired efMcer of the United States Navy, died in Faila- deipbia yesterday. Commodore Inman was born in New York and while yet a young man Was appointea @ midsbip. map in the United States Navy from that State te appointment bearing date January 1, 1812, though at that time the appointee was a resident of Pennsyivania. After bis appointment the young midshipman did doty on the lakes for a while, but ‘was alterwurds transferred to the Atlantic Squad- ron. On Apri 1, 1818, he was commissioned Lieutenant and sent to the Mediterranean, and afterwards to the Atlantic feet, where he served until he was oraered to the command of one of the two boats that captured the pirate vessel or three guns on the of Cuba. In 1634 Commodore Inman was appointed execu- tive officer of the Gagsbip of the tle feet, in whico service he remained till 1837, In 1838 he was commissioned @ Commander, and while in ‘that position he served again on the lakes in the eveamer frow 1844 till 1846. On June 2, 1860, dec was made a Captain and given command of the United States steam frigate Susquebanna, where he served till 1851. From 1869 to 1860 he commanded the African squadron, ama succeeded in capturing a siaver, from which he took 8,600 negroes, whom he afterwards landed in Liberia. Commodore Inman dates his last commission trom Mareh 12, 1867. He was the oldest Commo- dore on the Tetired list, and his record is a8 {ol- Jows:—Sea service, twenty-one years and ove month; shore dut; three years and nine months; Boa Hl thirty-eight years and two months; twtal service, sixty-two years, Commodore Inman was @ Kind and genial gen- ‘tieman. Charles H. Williamson. Mr. Charlies H. Williamson, @ leading photo- grapbic artist of Brooklyn, died yesterday, at his residence, No. 261 Fulton street. For sevéral months Mr. Williamson nad been suffering from dyspepsia, and latterly he had so overburdened his mind with the cares of business as to induce ner- ‘vous prostration and exhaustion of the brain, whieh was the immediate cause of his death. He | His father was a pative of Aberdeen, Scotland, and Dw mother an English woman. At an early age he develo; au inclination for the art of pho- tograpay, and when bat eighteen years oid he re- moved to the United States aud entered a gallery at Springfield, Mass., as an apprentice. He aiter- ward came to New York and practised for several months in this city. By his rigid economy and aevouon to his art Mr. Williamson soon was ena- bied, in the jail of 1851, to estabush @ gallery in Brooklyn. He located in Fulton street, within @ Jew doors of bis late place of business, His well known character for honesty and the great pro- ficiency he bas attained in us art Won him ste of customers, and at the time ef his decease he was proprietor of one of the most prpeperaes establishments in the city. He was one of the founders of the Brooklyn Pho gTapbical Art Association, and always took a prominent part in the meetings of that organiza- lon. He was also a member of the Masonic {ra- ternity. His warm, genial pature and unfaltering saberence to the Tight, surrounded bim with large circle of admiring friends, who will regret to hear of bis decease. He leaves a widow and two children, The obsequies will take place at the Cnarch of the Holy Trinity, on Sunday, when Dr. Hall will preach the funeral sermon and the remains of the deceased brother will ve followed to their last earthiy resting place by a large representation 0! the fraternity of the mystic tle. John T. Barnara. Mr. John T. Barnard, senior wember of an ex tensive coal, wood, sawing and plantog house in South street, died suddenly at his residence in Brooklyn yesterday. Mr. Barnard was widely and favoraply known as a business man, his firm hay- \ rn ing executed large contracts for supplying the city lees, schools, &c., with fuel, and doing a very | Jarge ‘bustness’ in its several vrancues. Some | months jo his wife, a very estimable lady, was accidentally killed by the mistake of a drug clerk, #6 alleged, putting up a Wrong Medicine on a pre- scription. This sad bereavement so shocked Mr, Barnard that his health has since declined, though DO lear of bis death was raised in the minds of his iriends til! a very short time before its occurrence, He leaves @ large amily, and a wide circle of friends will mourn his demise. Anfeio Antonio, who is cuarged with the murder of Guiseppe Abigiiano, @ resident of San Simeone, | Italy, was arrested last night by Captain Wii- liama, of the Eighth ward police, at No. 67 Sullivan street, Signor Abigiiano was murdered aad stabbed at nis residence in San Simeone by @ party of brigands from the neighborhood in the year 1867, and the local police were for a long time unabie to discover the perpetrators of the crime.
