Suchasiarp decline was certainly not expected at the close last night, and the suddenness with which it manifested itself is only another illustration of the uncertainty of Wall street ways, GAINS AND LOSSES, Fora second time within a week the market records a decline in every active stock. THE UNITED STATES TREASURY. The supply of money continues abundant at Fates heretolore quoted—to wit, 2% a3 percent on cail loans. Prime commercial paper sold at 6a 7 per cent for four months’ acceptances, and 6a6 per cent for short date. Foreign exchange was ‘weak, and leading drawers reduced rates to 4.843, for sixty days and 4.873, lor sight drafts. Oonces- sions !rom these figures are made on the basis of 4.8334 0 4.64 and 4.86 a 4.8634. THE GOLD MARKET ‘was without animation and prices generally were @teady at 110 109%. Nearly all the transactions ‘were at the latter figure, the decline being as- cribed to a reduction in the rates of sterling by the leading bankers. The carrying rates were 1 per cent and flat on the borrowing side. Time gold is worth, for use, % to 3% per cent for thirty qays and 3-16 to % ior sixty toninety days.
