WALL Stent, Tuvnspay, August 20 P.M. f AS anticipated, the steady gain in bullion of ‘the Bank of England during the last week re- ‘@ulted in a decline in the Bank of England rate of discount to-day to three per cent, The increase of bullion in the bank curing the past week amounted to £437,000, the amount gone into the bank on bal- ance to-day being £9,000, The proportion of re- @erves to liabilities, which was last week 47 per cent, {8 now 484 percent, At the London Stock . Exchange the rate for money was two per cent on government securities, The specie in the Bank of France has decreased 2,283,000 francs during the past week. STOCKS opened heavy, with a downward tendency, which did not, however, reach beyond % to % per cent, The principal dealings were in Western Union, Lake Shore, Pacific Mail, Nortuwestern common, ‘Wabash, Union Pacific and Rock Island.
