WALL STREET, } SATURDAY, Auguet 22—6 P. ‘w.} ‘The usual Saturday duiness prevailed in all the Markets to-day, although the stronger tone 'previ- ously noticeable was still preserved and main- tained up (to the close. STOCKS opened with a weaker feeling and before the call receded % per cent, but as the attendance of brokers increased there was a rally and prices ad- vanced 4 to % per cent, which was maintained during the second call. During the closing hour the market was firm and prices at the ‘close (an unusual thing for Saturday) were ‘the highest of the day. The advance ranged Srom ¥ to 13 per cent, the extreme having been made in Wabash, Northwest and St. Paul common, Lake Shore rose % per cent, Western Union and ®t. Paul preferred % per cent, Pacific Mail, Union Pacific and Ohios s per cent, and the remainder of the list { to 3g percent. The total sales of the day were 70,000 shares, of which nearly one-quarter were of Western Union, the other more active shares being Lake Shore, Wabash, Union Pacific, ‘St. Pant and Pacific Mail. The customs receipts to-day were $278,000, and for the week $3,021,000. OUR FOREIGN COMMERCE for the week was:—General merchandise imports, including dry goods, $6,871,325; produce exports, $5,496,733; specie exports, $63,229. The total mer- thandise Imports, including ary goods, since Jan- bary 1, this year, are $265,517,587 against $267,592, 186 last year and $289,071,370 in 1872, The total ex- ports of produce since January 1, this year, are $186,611,106 against $179,527,124 last year and 6138,574,489 in 1872, The total exports of specie since January 1, this year, are $40,314,832, against $38,304,986 last year and $56,173,688 in 1872, MONEY is without change, call loans 2 to 2}; per cent and prime mercantile paper 5 to 7 per cent. The tational bank notes received to-day tor redemption amounted to $340,000; total for the month to date, $7,150,000, The internal revenue receipts to-day were $356,000; total for month to date, $6,250,000, The Treasury shipments for the week ending to- flay were :— Legais.. “ery Fractional currency.
