Many sales were made on ‘short’ account. The majority of the Street operators may ve described as ‘bears.’ The transactious of the day amount to 74,038 shares, which were geuerally distributed as fol- lows:—Lake Shore, 25,500; Pacific Mall, 13,900; Western Union, 9213; Wabash, 8,450; Union Pacific, 5,800; Erie, 3,700; Northwest common, 2,400; Rock laiand, 1,700; 5t, Paul common, 1,600; do. preterred, 918; New York Central, 476; Ohio ‘and Mississippi, 400; Delaware and Lackawanna, 900; ©., C. anu L.
