The Virginius has gone to the port of Bahia Honda, 60 miles west of Havana, where she will be delivered by a Spanish man-of-war to @ veasel of the United States Navy. BAHIA HONDA. Bahia Honda (deep bay) is one of the har- ‘bors of Cuba, situated on the north coast of the island, 60 miles west southwest of Havana. It is protected by a fort. The bay has been resorted to by privateering vessels, -and is now a place for,the landing of slaves. SURRENDER OF THE VIRGINIUS PRISONERS. Captain General Jovellar has given the ne- -cessary orders for the transfer of the Virginius prisoners at Santiago de Cuba to an American «man-of-war to-day. The steamer Virginius was towed out of the harbor of Havana this morning at half-past four o'clock by a tugboat, GUARDED BY A SPANISH WAR SHIP. The Spanish war steamer Isabella la Catolica acted as escort. At seven o’clock this morn- ing the tugboat returned to the city. Telegraphic Communication Between Ha a and Santiago de Cuba Inter- rupted—The Steamer Ossipee Ordered to Santiago de Cuba. Key West, Dee. 12, 1873. Telegraphic despatches have just been re- ‘ceived here from Havana which state that the wires between that city and Santiago de Cuba are interrupted. THE STEAMER OSSIPEE. The steamer Ossipee, which has been de- tained for orders and repairs, will leave to- morrow for Santiago de Cuba. Wo OfMictal Confirmation of the Depar- ture of the Virginius from Havana. WasuInaTon, Dec. 12, 1873. Although there is to-night no official confirma- tion of the report that the steamship Virginius ‘was towed out of the harbor of Havana this morn- dng itis considered to be reliable in view of the fact that the recent agreement between Secretary Fish and Admiral Polo contemplated her surrender to a vessel of the United States within little more than a week from the time it was made, and this «movement is regarded as a preliminary to a fulfil- ment of the stipulation. The impression is that ‘the surviving passengers and crew of the Virginius ‘will be delivered on the same day. The Latest Report from Washington.
