FLEETWQOD PARK, First Day of the Extra Trotting Mect- ing—Joe Clark the Winner of the %:32 Parse, and Ledger Girl the 2:42 Race— ‘The $200 Match Postponed after Four Heats—Sorrel Jake Receives Forfeit from Mollie Barker. The first day of the extra trotting meeting, under the management of Daniel Mace ai Fleet- wood Park, was very successful, both in the mat- ter of the assemblage and in the character of the sport. The track was in excellent condition, and the several events were disposed of so far as prac- ticable with commendable promptness, There were four contests on the programme—purse of $300 Jor 2:32 horses, purse of $150 for 2:42 horses, and two matches, one of which did not come off | owing to forfeit being paid. In the first event, for horses that never beat 2:32, out of ten entries five came for the word, these being Tanner Boy, Constance, Joe Clark, Shot and Heatherbloom. Constance was the favorite in the pools, Tanner Boy second choice, Heatherbloom third and the others as a field, Tauner Boy won the first heat, but came in fifth in the second, Joe Clark being the victor. The latter repeated his favorable performances In the third and iourth heats, winmfng first money. Tanner Boy took second prize, Constance and Heatherbloom the fourth premium. SUMMARY.
