A short time ago Alderman Monhelmer de- Manded from the Comptroller his pay as Super- Visor of the county, which the latter refused 10 grant, under the plea that an Alderman cannot re- eeive payment for two offices. To this Alderman Monheimer demurred and sued out a mandamus claiming salary for May and June of the year. Yesterday he received the money pursuant to the order of the Supreme Court, The warrant handed to sama Monheimer contained the follow- Joseph R. STREET BOYS PLAYING WITH PISTOLS. The Recent Shooting Casualty in Worth Street—Four Boys Sent to the House of Detention. ‘The case of John Fitzgerald, the laborer, who ‘was killed in Worth street, near Mission place, on the evening of the 15th inst., by being shot in the head by a stray bullet from a pistol in the hands of @gang of boys who were amusing themselves by firing at a mark, was yesterday investigated be- fore Coroner Kessler. Several of the boys, who had been secured by Captain Kennedy, of the Sixth precinct, and other witnesses were examined, but no testimony could be obtained to show which of them fired the !atal shot, Alter listening to the evidence, the jury found “that deceased came to his dead by a pistol shot wound at the hands of one or more of a lawless gang of boys, consisting of Henry Dolet, John Shea, Joseph Saville and John Mullen, on October 15,1873, And that, while they severely condemn and denounce the practice of boys sbooting in the streets, they hold the vender or venders of dangerous weapons to boys respon- mobile and punishable.” There being no testimony upon which to convict the boys to the Tombs, they will be sent to the House of Detention, trom which their iriends can secure their discharge. CRUSHED TO DEATH aT YONKERS, Jeremiah Fitzgerald, for many years employed as night watchman on the Hudson River Railroad at Yonkers, Westchester county, was crushed to deatn by a locomotive passing over him at that Place on Tuesday tt eed Deceased was in the act of fastening a switch when the locomotive backed upon him.
