Aspecial report to the Henatp, dated in Massowah, the principal seaport town of Abyssinia, in the Red Sea, on the Ist of August, states that Kassah, King of Ebyrnia, who has been named Emperor, had despatched an ultimatum, in the name of the Abyssinian people, to Munzinger’ Bey, commander of the Egyptian army of invasion, at Keron, order- ing him, with his force of Egyptians, to leave Bogos, and announcing, in conclusion, that in case Munzinger Bey refused to comply with the order he, Kassah, would doclare war from Abyssinia to the lakes of the Nile, and that he now intends to add Abyssinia to his possessions. Should both those expe- ditions prove successful the Khedive would, they point out, rule over a greater extent of territory than has been subject to any previous Egyptian monarch, and were his people capa- ble of civilizing the millions who would thus be brought under his rule a vast and power- ful African Empire would arise.
