The police of the Tenth precinct, Brooklyn, were yesterday notified by Constable Hultz, of Flatbush, one of the county towns of Kings county, that murder most foul had been committed in that usu- ally quiet place at an early hour in the morning. The victim was William Albert Oliver, a negro about fifty years of age, who was found lying with his skull broken in by blows, at a lonely spot on Catherine street, within two hundred yards of his late place of residence, a miserable hovel. ‘The evidence strongly pointed to the fact that the deceased had been foully murdered, and Constabie Hultz was put on the trail to ferret out the murderer, He was not long in learning that Oliver, who was married and the father of seven children, had not been living upon amicable torme with ‘Mrs. Oliver, the sharer of is joys and sorrows, and that the green-eyed monster had raised its hideous form upon the once | happy domestic hearth of the Olivers, Ht was further ascertained that the deceased was seen under the influence of bad whiskey going towards his home about two o'clock in the morning, and that two other black men, also somewhat the worse for liquor, named Jaco Anderson and John W. Not only were they beaten and stripped of foliage by the hail, but large trees from eighteen inches to two feet in diameter were uprooted and prostrated by the violenc* of the wind, AT PUTNAM. In this town hailstone of large size, some meas uring an inch and a half in diameter, fell.
