SHOOTING AFFRAY IN DAN One of the Propriecters, and Tegweller, the Ring Master, Reported Killed. (From the Lawrence (Kansas) Tribune, May 25.) We received yesterday from one of the corres- pondents of the Tribune the following letter, which gives the details of a shooting affray that occurred at Baxter Springs last Wednesday. * Dan Bioe’s circus, which exhibited at Olathe on Batarday last, moved down the Fort Scott road, and on Wednesday brenght up at Baxter, At this point, Saring the evening performance, a new feature Was introduced—not new to vaxter, but new to the oir- oe It was in the shape of a first class shooting Fy enacted inside the canvas and during the re Rent ance, though not down o» the bills. The was between one of the proprietors of the Sree a euaing, and Wesby Taylor, the City Mar- "rajlor ted to arrest one of the candy and ‘earece ats the cireus for selling without » Whereat Spaulding interfered, aayin ested inside the tent, ia DO ee ee drawing his revolver. Our informant also stated that Spauld- ing ts ao dead, and that in the affray two citizens were Wunded seriously. We hope to obtain full particuprs to-day. A THIEF OVERBOARD. Whilepating his dinner on Pler1, North River, yesterdy at noon, Michael McDonough noticed a smalibq named Morris Sheeny playing about in rather opse proximity to his (McDonough’s) coat and vest which were lying on a barrel near by. Watching him closely, McDonough soon discovered the youta abstract his watch from the vest pocket and rtart off with it. He called to lim to stop, but, instexd of doing this the rascally little Rariow jem overboard, carrying the time-piece with McDonough’ follow ed him into the river, and the two wore soon floundering about in the water. The Woy boy soon, however, became exhausted, and he mpelled to succumb to McDonough, who bro gat im out by the hair of the head and turned him Over to a police omice 3 wm POLITICAL. ry TRADE beter —A MEETING OF THOSE V WHO desire to eprate ainst the betrayalof the cause of reform the? recent fonvention at Cincinnati will be am way Hall on Thureiay, May $0, af 8 o'clock reside, and ad- il “positively ba. saelivesca" bs by Hon David "A, Wel ward Atkinson, Esq., and others.
