It 4s proposed that, should the conditions fixed upon for the settlement of the dispute between workmen and employers at Newcastle not be a0 cepted by the latter, that the point or points objected to shall be submitted to arbitration, the decision of the arbitrators to be final. ‘The announcement, therefore, that the engineers’ strike was virtually at an end is correct. There was & great demonstration by the partisans of the “Home Rule” policy at Drogheda on Satur- day night. Eight thousand men marched in procession. Bawrrworg, Oct. 9, 1971. The Triennial Convention reassembled this morn- ing at 10 o’clock. After the usual religious services and the reading of the journal, a resolution was in- troduced admitting the Diocese of Arkansas into full representation in the Convention. Along and bitter controversy was entered into between Dr. Viuton, of Massachusetts, and Dr. Corntk, President of the Convention, respecting charges against the former in a sermon preached several months since by the latter, and waich had been published and circulated among the members of the Convention. A resolution was introduced calling for the ap- pointment of & committee on the subject of di. vorces, prohibiting clergymen from marryin, parties either of whom bad veen divorced an whose former husband or wife was still living.
