Within two years after—that is, In Feb- Tuary, 186¢—Le sailed Liverpool to the Caited tales on @ visit confessedly of uncertain duration. Jew weeks after his arrival he entered bimseif as a common sailor, under the assumed name of Geo. H, Osborne, ou board the Kk. The comparison of events was eqnally con- cinsive, Taos, though the writer did not mention the name of his vessel, he told his mother in “one letter that a parrot fell overvoard; that a shark was captnred, and that once when painting the yards ho .et tae bucket of paint fall aud spattered tue cap- tain fell over with paint All these incidents aro shown to have occurred on the voyage of the R. Numerous other tuci- dents are given, too trifitng, perhapa, to be re- peared, hut ali tending to prove that Osborne and ‘the late Eari must have been one and the same per- son. REMARKABLY SHORT PassagR—The Inman line steam- ship Olty of Brussele, Capt Jas A Kennedy, has just added another splendid passage to her list of short runs between the ports of New York and Liverpool via Queenstown. She left Now York on the 8th inst and arrived at Liverpool at 5 YM on Monday last, making the passage in exactly nine days, allowing for difference in time, She probabiy did not touch at Queenstown, as no mention fs made of her having done 40, though she must havo passed that port about mid- night on Sunday. Tho steamship Oceanto, which left New York shortly after the City of Brussels, passed Crookhaven (which fs about 70 miles this side of Queenstown) at 7:30 AM on Monday, and no doubt arrived at Liverpool on Tuesday ‘morning some 12 hours behind her rival.
