She was in- that her husband was not there. Priscilla insisted that he was, and an altercation was the result. Plaines struck Priscilla with his fist and Priscilla stabbed him t the groin with a sharp instrument, severing an artery and inflicting mjuries that are likely to result fatally. Plaines was carried to his residence, 117 McKibben street, and was attended by Police Surgeon Creamer. Priscilia was arrested and locked up in the Stagg street station house. At about the same time Adam Schoendor and Joseph Werter, painters, called at the residence of their employer, John Cohen, in Meserole street, near Grahum avenue, and demanded a sum of money that was due them. For about three years the people of Smithtown, Long island, agitated the question of railroad com- munication with New York. A town meeting was held, and the people voted for a branch of the Long Island Ratiroad. Some citizens sudscribed a large amount of money, and the town was to be bonded for the rest.
