Roberta Subsoribes for Eleven Thousand Shares. ‘Under the act of Congress organizing the Texas Pacific the corporators met on Saturday, April 15, 1871, in pursuance of notice given in the Bewspapers of New Orleans, Washington and New York.. There were 123 corporators, representing ost of the Statesand Territories of the Union, ‘Of his number over seventy were in at fendazce. Tho men of the Pacific slope and of the south were particularly active gna energetic, and in addition to these a large fmumber of gentlemen not jucluded in the list gathered to encourage the final organization. Among these men were Geueral Nye, of Nevada, ~ nd Mr. Pomeroy, of Kansas, Senators in Congress; General Banks, of Massachusetts; Judge Edwards Pierrepont, of New York; Hon. J. S. The Alleged Ku Klux Murdor—Arrival of Mr. Wickinsen’s Kemains to This City— Meeting of His Friends—Expression of Feeling. ‘The remains of Mr. John Quincy Dickinson, who was recently murdered at Marianna, Florida, ar, rivea bere yesterday on the steamship General Barnes, from Savannah, Ga, en route for his former home in Vermont, where the funeral services will be held, John Quincy Dickinson, @ native of Vermont, was assassinated on the evening of the 3d of April, 1871, at Marianna, Fla., while passing quietly from his place of business to his residence. His body was not discovered until the next morning, when it was found lying where he fell. He had re- ceived thirteen buckshot in his breast and a pistol bullet through the heart, A public meeting was held at the Gramercy Park Hotel on the 14th inst., which was attended by his acquaintances and per- sonal friends, many of whom had been his comraies in the army, and all of whom were Vermonters, living in New York and Brooklyn. Mr. Peter Starr was called to the chatr, Acom- mittee, consisting of Colonel Henry M. Porter, Mr. Charles S. Qolburn and Colonel Stephen A, Walker, was appointed to wait upon the remains in their passage through the city and to accompany them bome. Professor Brainard Kellogg, Colonel Wiliam ©. Holbrook and Lieutenant Colonel Aldace F.
