Mcrariand upon ber cading to see him in regard to procurtg @ divorce; that sne brought to him testimoniais ag to the purity of ber character from the most respectable genticmen aud ladies ot New York city; that ue Way acquainied with her ussociates in Indianapolis and they were the purest and best of the city. ‘Chere was also evidence showing that the young- est child, (hea with Mrs. MePariand, was six years oid, and tne other, with Mr. Mclurland, im New York, was some mine years oid. A letier, proved to have been written by McFar- land to his wife late in the year 1e6v, was given in evidence. In that letter McFariand admitted that he haa greatly wronged her, with bow tongue and hand, but 26 bogged her to believe that while with tongue and nand he outraged her, in His heart aod soul he was trae, teader, devoied, and never wrouged her, &¢., and conciuded by asking her to forgive and trust him once more.
