The usual weekly meeting of the suffrage-seeking ladies would have been held yesterday afternoon at the Revolusion oifice, in Twenty-third street, but that Mra. The interlor of the Medical College jg much more ornately furnished and decorated than the Xevoluiion omce, and its surround- ings are of a decidedly more exclusive and aristocratic character, The attendance seemed to be in keeping with the elegance of the location. Horses in golden harness and drivers in glittering livery halted before the emerald-platted front, and Eorerous. suits of rich fall design rustied over the rown stone steps and disappeared wiinin the heavy walnut doorway. ‘The room ou the first floor was fully occupied, and very much reseuibled a parterre of exotic fowers. Ou no previous occasion did the ladies of the bureau turn out in n splendor of costume, All except Miss Anthony rivailed in bril- hhancy of apparel the plumage of a bird of Para- aise. Miss Anthony was studiousiy = plain and simple iu her attire, but lacked none of her customary imental luiminou: and wit, The higniy cultivated and m some tn- stances remarkably beautiful ladies o. the Medical College crowded to the doorway of the room where the proceedings were aeld to gaze on the phenomenon of women in political council, and more especially to hear the philosophy of Miss Anthoay concerning meu and their curious ways of acting and thinkiug. A Special term of the Circuit Court was com- Menced at White Plalas, Westchester couity, ye-ier- day, Justice Gilbert presiding, for the purpose of trying the important suit occasioned by the defal- cation of Henry Willetts, a former treasurer of the county. Tule ex-oMicial, on Gisappearing in Decem- ber, 1861, failed to account for about $150,000 of the ublic funds, apd the present action ia being rougut by the Board of Supervisors against the sureties who had signed Willevis’ bond, in order to recover from them the amount of that mmstrameu\— namely, $160,000. Ju 1308 the case was tried aud a verdict rendered for the plaintit; but from this decision the defendauts appealed and succeeded in having # new trial ordered, It appears that twelve porsons ajlixed their signa- tures to tite bond fin question, and three of this number have since died, The remaining nine offer as a defence that it was undersiood at the time tnat Sven wames were to have been placed on the bond, and it was promised by Willetts that he would not deliver said bond to the Board of Super. visors of the county until it had received the re- matuder of the signatures. In the meantime, they say, Willetts surreptitiously presented ihe bond, with only tweive names attached, to the Board of Supervisors, wud it was accepted by that body. A considerabie portion of yesterday was xpent in selecting jurors, and when ten had been empanel- led the Court was inlormed by counsel, who read aMdavits in support of the fact, that his client, one of the defendants, was unavie through tiluess to attend. A Double Marder—Death of Mrs. Mary Aun Dickey—The Ceroner’a Inqueste—Verdict of the Jary—The Murderer’s Insinuations of 166 West Hie Wife's Chastity Unfounded. ‘The terrible tragedy enacted at Bombay Hook, N. J, on Tuesday morning, bas resulted in a double |, murder, as Mre, Dickey, the wife of the murderer, 164 shortly before six o'clock on the evening of that day. The commission of this Rorror, the place, the Imoidents of the acene, the poverty of the abode and the revolting attempt of the living husband to im- pugn the virtue of a dying wife, without the least semblance of # shadow of evidence to substantiate Ris accusation, surrounds the case with much of interest, although deplorable in its nature. The very full details published in the HeRaLy of yesterday renders a recapitulation of some of the more import- ‘ant incidents of the crime unnecessary. The develop- ments that have since been made will, therefore, prove none the jeas worthy of note, inasmuch as they were made in the hearing of the authorities of Bergen county, whose duty it was to silt the case shoronghly, Justice B. N. Purdon, with commendable prompt- ness, empanelied a jury of tweive residents of Closter, and at ven o'clock yesterday proceeded ‘to the cene of inquest, Several of the jurors had known the Dickey family, but othera were in pro- found ignorance of such beings, and of the misera- ble habitations “under the hills’ where lived a score of men and women working steadily the year around, ‘The terrible picture that met their gaze uu- manned them. On the ground foor of the small shanty where the family of the murderer lived still lay the body of Colin Colquhun, the murderer's first victim, only haif clothed, and upon the bare boards, the doors and walls were huge ciots of dried blood, In the centre of the victim's breast was the cavity made by the bullet that had done the work. His Diack whiskers and stilt comely face besmeare with blood, was in strange contrast to the soft, white skin ol the body, that gitstened as transparently a8 @ woman's, Around the room all was desolation, There was no carpet, and but hitie furniture, and that of the rudest construction. A poorly furnisned bed filled an adjoining room. Up stairs a similar rooni, where the murdered man and his comrads, William J. Mooney, slept, presented to the jurors the same cold poverty, Hastening from this, Justice Purdon bade them step into the next dwelling. ‘The sobver-faced tweive solemnly ascended the stairs, and in a room there lay the body of Mrs, Diekey, Which buta few pours before was the ea- bodiment of health and vigor, To remain there was impossible, ‘The surgeon bad done his work. A pale corpse, of tender build, bandaged avout head and face, sent these yeomen jurors mio the air to breathe and reflect. Each strotied his own way for ‘8 few minutes along the stony pathway |nat loads to the fatgfactory, thar gave to tie deadg aud now gives to tie living their subsistence.
