The following 1s the vote, as far as received, for Secretary of State in Brooklyn, compared with the ‘vote for Governor in 1868:— “GOVERNOR, 1868. /880'y STATR, "09, toeg, The following are the candidates elected as far as indicated by the returns from the several election districts of the wards and county towns of Brook- lyn up to a late hour:— JUDICIARY, District Judge Supreme Court—OCalvin E. Pratt, democrat. CITY AND COUNTY OFFICERS, Mayor—Martin Kalbfleisch, democrat. Street Commissioner—Robert Furey, democrat, 8,000 majority. Sher John Cunningham, democrat, 1,000 ma- jorit: ; superintendents of the Poor—Thomas Foran and Henry Corr, democrats, School Conuntssioner—James Edwards, democrat. Justice of Sessions—S, L. Voorhies, democrat, OTHER STATE ELECTIONS. Ni SACHUSET TS, Boston, Nov. 2—Midnight, The election in Massachusetts has been, after all the taik and biuster of the campaign, one of the tamest ever held in the State. There has been no exoltement here or elsewhere except upon insignif- cant local matters, and the vote ts not more than two-thirds what it was last y in any of the principal cities and towns. The rum {ssue was the most important of all, but even upon this important question neither the tip- piers nor templars entered into the contest with that warmth aud earnestness which was anticip: The question of protecting the interesta of the labor- ing classes was also involved, and whiie the aup- porters of it were leas in number than any of the other political cliques, every vote cast came from an honest worker in behalf of their cause, George Claflin and the entire republican State ticket, exclusive of Senators and Representatives, goes into supreme power by the redacea majority of about 28,000, The vote of the State for John Quincy Adams, the democratic gubernatorial candi- the workingmc7’s candidate, gets about 12,000. Tho vote of Claflin is fifty per cent less than last year, and that of Adams thirty-three per cent less, tne tot Moyet had hen wy NE gales combined losses being accounted for in the 12,000 votes given for Chamberlain. In Boston the vote for Adams was unexpectedly large. He received 10,946 Votes against 7,792 for Claflin and 485 for Chamber- lain, The Legis!ature comprises m any new Members tn both branches, it 18 probable that the House will have a majority of liberal men so far as the labor and liquor interests are concerned, but it will never- theless be largely republican when regarded in an Thayer & Lincoln, ‘of Bor exclusively political sense, If the members in the interest of rum and labor join hands tn their favorite schemes they will undoubtedly carry their various measuras through, but when they reach the forty says, Senators the sentiment will not be so unanimous. The Senatorial body, it is feared by the liberals, will be controlled py anti-rum and antt-laber men, but at this hour the returns are such as to warrant good ground for the same fear on the other side, Harvey Jewell, brother of Governor Jewell, of Connecticut, 1s revurned to the House, and will, of course, be re-elected Speaker. Among the honorable Senators are Charles R. Train and Timothy Davis, both of whom have repre- ted ~Massachusetis in Congress. Probably one of them will be chosen President, Charles Levi Woodbury, the oldest rank democrat of the state, is elected to the House, and Frank Bird, the irrepressible abolitionist, is also elected, Moses Kimball, republican, proprietor of the Boston Museum, for many years the financial ardian of the State, defeated in the euisiative race for the first time. His first defeat in any political contest was when he ran for Mayar last year agctnst Mayor Shurtleff. ‘The old rum fight will be fought over again in the newly elected Legislature, and it ts likely that a wholesale license law will replace the present unwholesome prohibitory act. The labor aneation will also come up, and, from the shaky condition of the domimant party in’ Mas- sachusetts, it is not unlikely it will be favorably considered, The woman saffrage issue will also be freely debated, but the new members will not be likely to sympathize very mach with it, MARYLAND. BALTIMORE, Nov. 2, 1869. The vote in this city to-day was unusually light, only 18,720 votes being polled of a registry of over 000, The vote for Comptroller of the State Treasury was:—Woolford (dem.), 13,642; McKellip (rep.), 5,237. For Sheriff the vote was:—Albest (dem.), 13,174; Woods (rep.), 4,794; Wisong (workingmen’s candl- date), 1,623, ALABANIA. MOBILE, Nov. 2, 1869, The election passed w!thout the slightest disorder.
