Martin, who fell at the head of hts regiment—Eleventh Pennsylvania Vol- ‘unteers—in the second battle of Bull run, on the 30th of August, 1862, was a member of the Masonic fra- ternity, being atthe time of his death an officer of industry Lodge, No. 131, A, Y. M., @ member of Excelsior Mark Lodge, No. 216, and of Oriental H. R. A. Chapter, of this city. When killed he had on his body a large beautiful fasonic mark, in the shape of ‘a Maltese cross, of solid gold, which Was not recov- ered with his body.
