Sr. Pererspura, Feb. 23, 1868, ‘The Russian Admiral in command of the imperial squadron on duty in the waters of the Grecian Archipelago, acting uvder instructions from the Czar, has demanded from the Grand Vizier of the Porte an explicit explanation of the authenticity of a report prevailing in Turkey, and published in shapo in a late issue of the Levant Herald in Con- stantinople, to the effect that the vessels of the imperial Russian fleet had afforded material id and comfort to the insurgents and Christian revolu- tionists in Candia. The government of the Porte replies that the Sultan’s Cabinet is in possession of late official reports from the Turkish Admiral serving uY Candia, and that tne documents contain no such charge against the Russian officers or sailors as that referred to in the despatch received from the representative of the Czar. MEXICO. SPECIAL TELEGRAM TO THE HERALD, Anotter Defeat of the Rebels in Yucatan—The Baitle Lasted Fifteen Hours. Havana, Feb. 24, 1868. The steamer Marsella has arrived here from Sisal, with dates to Wednesday last, 19th inst. On the 13th in battle took place at Yzamal, in Yucatan, between the rebels and the national troops. It lasted fifteen hours, and resulted in the defeat of the rebels. Governor Cepeda has replaced all the authori- ties who had been deposed by the usurper. The British man-of-war Sphynx was moored at Frederickstad. The English gunboat Niobe had also arriyed from Carlisle Bay. Cabral le. Havana, Feb. 24, 1868, President Cabral fled to Venezuela January 31 on board a Danish schooner. He was accompanied by his Cabinet. General Merne Cacares, commanding the south- ern forces, entered the capital at the bead of two thousand troops. General Baez left Curacao on the 4th instant te assume the reins of government in St. Domingo. Tho cholera caused thirty deaths a day in St. Domingo city. This is reported having been the reason of Cabral’s precipitation. In the Cibao Generals Leonardo, Deking, Du- bouwe and others had beem arrested. General Du- rocher was killed ina skirmish near the 1s of the capital.
