Vanverbilt and ean Ricnmond, This article refers to a Coroner's inquest, said to have been held at some point on the Hudvon river, It appears that some sort of an aquest was held over the remains of one William Ryan, ® fireman on board of the Dean Richmond; that a jury was empanelied, before whom the Coroner took only the evidence of some of the officers and crew of the Dean Richinond. No notice what of the inquest was givea to the officers or owners of the C. Vanderbilt, nor any effort made to se- cure their testimony. It must be apparent to every unprejudiced mind, as it was to the writer to pein that such an inquest was irregular and belly, emer: and a3 aa investigation for the satisfaction of the ends ot justice and of the public mind, a gage useless.
