Lewis Lyman & Co, Atthe same time the officer heard a noise in the basement, which aroused bis suspicions that there was mischief brewing. Ac- cordingly he examined the store door, and found that the padlock hed been. removed. He quietly called two other officers to his aid and entered tne store, where they found and arrested a man giving his name as Montague Dean, baving in bis possession a large calico bag containing sixty-eight pieces of silk ribbon, valued at $476.
