There was a mustard plaster lying on the table and some tea and toast, Commissioner White said he woald not force Mr. La- Tooque to goon. Mr. jue said, under the cireumst that he id not like to go on, lest hereafter there might be any legal difficulty in the way. Dittenhoefer—You may do thatas you like, I shall not go to the prison at all, The Commissioner said he thought a physician ought to be sent to seo the prisoner. He would adjourn the case ‘ull, Monday. Mr. Ditonboefer observed that he would probably ask another adjournment, as it was likely he should have witnesses to prove the innocence of the prisoner, Commissioner—Are the witnesses here ? Mr. Dittenhoefer—Some of them are here. Others may have to come from abroad. Mr. Larocque—I entirely dissent from the point taken by counsel for the prisoner that he can go into any such evideuce.
