Detective Slowey rday arrested a young man a charge of robbery pre- ferred against him by John Good, residing at Mo. 12 Market street, Mr. Good makes oath that he ‘was in @ house in Mulberry street with a friend, fnd while there the latter was taken sick and left the Good followed to look after his friend, when d and two or three others decoyed him into a dark ley in the rear of the house, where they seized, held and forcibly robbed him of $30 in cash and a silver ‘watch worth $25, with which they escaped. After his esis Boland was fully identified as one of the men, and H ice Hogan committed him for trial without bail ‘The others concerned in the robbery are known, and the @fficers are in pursuit of them. Boland is nineteen years of age and lives at 64 Thompson street. He denies knowing anything about the robbery. ATTEMPTING TO PASS COUNTERFEIT AND WORTH- _ LESS MONEY. Peter Gruller, a German tailor, was arrested by officer MoFarland, of the Fourth precinct, charged with ten- ering to Sidney Thomas, a saloon keeper at No. 6 New ‘Ohambers street, in payment for refreshments, a coun- terfeit five dollar legal tender note. On being informed that the bill was counterfeit Gruller tore it in pieces and offered a worthless five dollar bill on the Erie and Kala- mazoo Raliroad Bank, of Adrian, Michigan. Gruller was told that the note was worthless, when he went away, peered two hours subsequently, and calling for a of wine, offered ur. Thomas the same bill again, was given into custody. Justice Hogan committed accused for trial. Michael Grinman, a gardener, offered a ten dollar bill, ting to be a genuine issue of the Blackstone Canal of Providence, R. I, to Maria Burns, of 370 Canal pareet, in payment for some small articles which he had purchased. She informed Michael of the true character wf the bill, when he attempted to escape. Maria seized r endeavored to detain Grinman, when he ruck her heavy blow on the arm with his fist, pulled away and escaped. The alarm being given, Grinman was pursued a arrested by officer Van Riper, of the Fifth precinct. Hogan committed the accused for trial, in default $1,000 bail. ARREST ON SUSPICION OF STEALING MINING STOCK.
