The Apollo, marked Otto Schrader, is also admirably done, In the mechanical and other departments there are many drawings which display great merit, The same lack of variety which we noticed as existing in the female “partment exists here also, This we understand is owing to a paucity of subjects’ for copying in the school, | The nuinber of specimeus in the male department. is considerably less than those in the female, This can be | accounted for by the lady students baving a great deal | more time at their disposal for study. She the half mile pole in 1:12%. On the three-quarter stretch Shark broke up again, and the gray collared him and made a very prett; race to the homestrotch, but they had nothing to do wit the mare, as she was safely out of their way, trotting ap- [melt well in hand, and leading them four or five ngths, She came home a very easy winner in 2:30, Shark second, two lengths ahead of the other, Third Heat,—Blonde now became the favorite at one hundred to thirty. She took the lead with the word, having speed enough apparently to trot around the others, and went to the quarter pole two lengths ahead of the ray in 37% seconds, Shark up and two lengths behind, Blonde was three lengths aload of the gelding at the half mile pole in 1:1344, four lengths ahead of him at the three-quarters pole, and came home @ winner by three lengths in 2:32, the gray second, Shark two lengths ‘The winner of the above trot is # light iron gray, fif- teen hands one inch high, finely formed, and e of great strength. Tho above race attests her specd. She was sired by 8. Hoacland’s gray Messenger, dam by Abdallah. Blonde is six years old. Between the second and third heats of the above race Mr. Bonner brought h’s gray mare Peerless on the track, and gave the spectators an exhibition of her speed “free, gratis, for nothing.” She trotted a quarter of a mile to w road wagon, Mr. Bonner driving, in ty- fir: arconds. On Thureday, at the Union Sours, five horses will start in a sweepstakes, each of whom can trot fn less than 2:20, Blonde the winner of the trot yesterday, is one of the entries, ‘The race ought to be a good one.
