The speculative fecling in the gold room has been tamer to-day than yesterday, under the influence of further encouraging news from Grant und Sheridan, to- gether with exciting rumors, The market drooped to 150, but subsequently experienced a partial recovery, The quotations were : 10:00 A. M. 11s 122.35 P.M 10d 1:45 P.M. ‘The stock market was rather heavy on the street th morning, but at the first session of the board it became active and strong, quotations advancing as the cail pro gressed. At the cloce New York Central was 3¢ higher than at yesterday's second board, Erie 43s, Reading ¥, Michigan Southern 34, Qleveland and Pittsburg 3, Rock Island 3, Ohio and Mississippi cortiicates 44. Fort Wayne was % lower, Til nois Central %, Northwestern 34. Hudson River and Cumberland were steady, Government securities were tirm.
