The market opened at 16014, and, after reaching 161, remained among the fractions between that figure and the opening price. ‘The par value of the Canton Company’s stock, which ‘was originally sixteen dollars, owing to tbe cancelling of @ portion of the shares, has reached nearly nineteen do! lars, for which sixty-three dollars per share is now ob- tained, There are about forty-six thousand shares, which, under the present price, have an aggregate value of nearly three millions of dollars, or an’ average of one thousand five hundred dollars an acre for the tand, which is more than some porticns of it will be worth after the company hhas doubled the years of its existence.
