~ Musical. PALLAM oFmBA. ULacreria Borgia is doubl the mest melodious among the many beautiful operas composed by the great maestro, Donizettt. From the commencement of the over- tare to the [ali of the curtaia upon the last aot the work {a full of attractive melodies. It is always ploasiag—at times traly grand. The public recognize the merit of this chef d’euvre, and always crowd the Academy of Music whea it ig sung by the troupe. He was suddonly stopped in his prosperous career by almost too stupid a blunder, He had failed to secure the Tacon, the Havana Upera House, and just inthe high tide of bis season the Ravels, who had had the foresight to engage the house, stopped him. Mme. Loriai, the prima donua of the troupe, was vastly successful in all her performances. At her debut, which was made in Norma, the enthusiasm of the audience was 80 great as almost to retard the performance. The Ha- vana journals the next moroing were extravagant in their praises of this favorite artiste, who had creditably sus- tained American art in South America, Europe, our own principal cities, and iastly in Havana. Miss Phillips was also very well received by the Habaneros, Signor Amodio, the popular young baritone, also made a most favorable impression during the short season he appeared at the Tacon. He has returned to this city, under engagement, as we hear, to Mr. Grau. IRVING HALL. The great testimonial concert offered to Mr. F. I. Har- risoa takes place to-night at Irving Hall. The programme fg unusually attractive; our most popular-artists sing and play, and the performance will doubtless be one of the ‘most brilliant of the season. ‘Citizens were arming themselves to be ready for avy emergency. @apture of the Blockade Runner Scotia— >A Fight Reported at Deep Creek, Va. ‘Wasuinaton, March 4, 1864.
