THE INTERCEPTED REBEL DESPATCHKS. ‘Very important despatches from the rebel diplomatic agents in Europe to the rebel State Department have -recently been captured. These despatches show that the ‘webe! agentes despair of any practical benefit or assistance 2from Engiand or Franco, and that, in point of fact, Louis ‘Napoleon has no intention of affording to them any great- *orald and comfort than the English government is dis- ‘Posed to give them, and that, while he will amuse them ~with ideas of a Mexican alliance, they have nothing of a “practical or substantial character to hope for from bim. ‘These letters and despatches also contain many other vdiscouraging statements and facts, which cannot fall to v@reatly damage the rebel cause, Copies are being pre- ‘pared for publication by the Navy Department, and will De given to the press in a day or two. THS BLOCKADE AT WILMINGTON. “The recent aumerous and important captures of block- vade runners off the harbor of Wilmington, N. C., must “have @ most dumrging effect upon the rebel cause. As sgtated by Jeff, Davis, in a recent specch, that Port is the ‘oaly one now avattable to the rebels for communication ‘with the outer world, and now this is becoming too unsafe ‘to avail thom much or prove profitable to their Foglish ‘friends. Capture of the Blockade Kunners Robert E. Lee, Elia and Anna, and Cornubin, with Valuable Cargocs—Distribation of Money of the Mempt: the Spotl, &e, Admiral Lee bas communicated to the Navy Depart- mont the particulars relating to the recent cxptures off the North Carolina coast, from which it appears that the cargo of the Robert E. Lee consists of two hundred and fourteen large cases and bales if shoes and blankets, some of the bales weighing two tons; one hundred and any eases of Austrian rifles, two hundred and fi‘ty bags of saltpetre, and sixty-one barrels of salt, provisions, pig lead, &c. Of sixty two persons composing the officers and crew only fifteen were natives of the United States. Among the passengers are C, FE. Stewart, Beigian Conaul, and Horace H. Webber and H. W. Rooke, Lieutenants ta ‘the British royal artillery. The vessel ‘had no ship's Papers. The Robert E. Lee was discovered by the James Adger on tbe morning of the Oth inst.,and chase was given, which resulted in the captare of the vessel at half-past seven the same day. The R. EF. Lee left Bermuda five hours after the Cornubia. ‘The cargo of the Ella and Anna consist of four hundred and eighty sacks of salt, five husdred sacks of saltpotre two hundred and eighty-one cases of Austrian rifles, five hundred barrels aud forty-two cases of paper. She had no ship's papers. Of thirty-eight persons on board only one ‘was a pative of the United States. ‘The cargo of the Cornubia consists of manitions of war, arms, saltpetre and lead, and was solely owned by James A, Seddon, of Richmond. A quantity of official despatcbes— mai? matter and private and public papers—eome of them of considerable interest and value, were picked up in the sarf by the boats of the Niphoo, baving been throws overboard or dropped by the enemy. Official despatches say:—About two A. M., November 8, the blockading vessels off New Inlet, were warned by @ signal (rom the James Adger of the presence of s blockade runner, and while the Adger pursued the strange craft along the beach, the Niphon stood in to cut her off. Es- cape being impossible the pursued veasel was rua ashore in haif.an hour after the chase began; but half an hour later tho Niphon got her off uninjured. She proved to be the Cornubia, one of the most successful of the blockade runners. She is owned solely by James A. Seddon, rebel Secretary of War. Some idea of the importance of this capture may be formed from the statement of her mas- ter to the commander of the James Adger, that, though the vessel was small, his government could better have afforded to lose almost any other veasel. Acting Master Breck, of the Niphon, reports that be went in boats to capture the crew of the Cornubia, who were on the beach, and succeeded. The next morning several men appeared on the shore, making signals to be taken off. Before a boat could reach them they were made prisoners by &@ party of soldiers, on whom the Niphon immediately opened fire, and killed and wounded several in their re- treat. Soon after eight mon, making siguats from the shore, wore taken off by the Niphon’s boats. Several valuable prizes have recently been finally aqju- dicated, and the money will be ready for distribution in the course of a week or ten days. Among them are the Mompbis, the Britan: a and the Victory. The frmer was captured by the United States steamer Magnolia, and yie'dea the snug sum of $510,914 07, after prying the ox. pensos of adjudication, Acting Volunteer Licutenaat Wm. Budd is the happy man who takes as his share $38,318 65, bis vessel not betng attached to a squadron at the time of the capture, and bis share being threo-twenticths of the half awarded to tbe captors. All the officers ow this ves- sel belonged to the volunteer service, and their several rberes amount to # Randseme eum. The sailors, too, come in for a small fortune for them, the seamen getting $1,736 86 each: ordinary seamen, $1,350 48, and the landsmen $1,157 91. ‘The Britannis aad Victory were captured by Commander R.H. Wyman, of the Santiago de Cuba. the former yieid- ing the sum of $169,695 72, and the latter $200,998 45, making $460 604 17, the captures being made within the space of a week. It will be noticed in this case that -wuifé tho OMcers gui liberal shares, the, seamen each re- ceive $807 57; ordinary seamen, $698 12, and landsmen, $508 40. Apother steamer was captured about the same time which has not yet? been adjudicsted, making altes gether a very handsome sum. The tables ia these cases are given below. ‘The navy is ia immediate want of seamen, and with such chances for fortunes it is amazing that the want ex. ists for asingle day.
