Schenck also ordered that these three prigovers should not be allowed to communicate with any one, for any purpose whatever, and that at half-past eight o'clock last might they ‘should be placed upon the train for Harper's Ferry, to be sent across the lines, not to return during the war, under the penalty of being treated as spies. They were pot allowed to make any arrangements about business mat- ters or clothing; in fact, the orders were the most per mptory and severe whwh have yet been issued here relation to such prisoners. They were escorted to tht @epot last night by a heavy guard, with a view to veut® any communication ween them and frients. All of these gentlemen are married, and Mr. Joyce has quite a large family. It is stated that’ the cause of the Qrrest and suppression was the publication on Thursday afternoon of a piece of poetry, entitled ‘ The Southern Cross,” as well as the publication of other articles upon different occasions, regarded as disloyal in their tenden- cies. Late last evening, it is lear General Senenck gave permission to the prisoners to ve a small sum money and @ supply of clothing. It seems likely that the new notes will be rather popalar, and that the people will take the whole fifty millions within a short period of time at a fair premium. The money which would otherwise have gone into 5-20 bonds will now go into them. And, possibly, people who would not subscribe for the latter may be tempted to take the notes by the circumstance that they partake of the properties of both a bond cur . The money market is working in favor of the borrower. The street rate for loans on call is still seven per cent; but all the leading houses ar supplied at six; and a good deal of money cam into the street to-day to be used at5. Mercanti paper works easily at 5 a6 for the best names Gold advanced this morning from 150% cpeniug que 131%, then fell back t 1309j, then rallied and sold in the afternoon (or the stories of French intervention), at 133, 13244 132%%, and closed at five P. Erie was done at 104, against 10244 on Saturday; old Southern at 86, against 824 ‘ Harlem at 145, against 140; New York Central at 131%, againet 150, and so on throughout the list This improvement lasted till towards the clese of the call at the first board, when a rumor that the government had called upon the banks for $3,500,- 000, payable to-morrow, gave fresh heart to the sellers, apd the market was sharply attacked and gave way all round. Pacific Mail fell 10 per cent, Erie 1, Central 1, Southern old 1%, Pittsburg %, Prairic du Chien 144, Fort Wayne 4. Governments were % per cent lower. The Chicago and Alton und the ‘Terre Haute stocRa were pretty steady; so were Rock Ismod and Toledo. At the one P. M. call of the public board the general tenor of the market wes weak, but there were some exceptions. The bull specuia- tion appears to be quiet for the present; the Dears, on the other hand, are full of courage, and increase their lines daily, seemingly without the least apprehension of an unfavorable result. As «usual after a sharp panic, such as we have had, the pablie are not moving with vigor, but stand generally aloof, watching events.
