Money continues excessively easy. On ca leading houses are abundantly supplied at tive per cent, and large amounts continue to floW into the Aub-Treasury at tive. Debt certificates are well maintained at the recentadvance. The stock market was dull but firm this morn- ing. In governments there is y no trade whatever. ‘To effect sales it would be necessary te make @ concession from last quotations. Bonds are inactive. In railway shares there was not much change. Erie was barely steady, notwith- etanding the enormous earnings of March; Harlem was dull; guaranteed was very firm; Pitt a fraction better, and Northwestern advan per cent on the propoged extension of the line. The Erie shows em incroase of nearly 50 por cont, and the Fort ‘Wayne an increase of 56 per cent. It is doubted whether the Central is doing quite as well, though it umust be taking a great deal of money. The prospects of the Fort Wayne road are very bright indeed. Since the consolidation with the Pitts- burg line a number of expenditures for agencies, 4&c., have been reduced, and at the same time freights and fares between points which used to be competing points have been advanced. The combined road will make its own terms with the lake propellers this ae instead of being dic- tated to by them. believed that the Fort Wayne will earn this year fully 20 per cent on its stock. A large portion of the surplus earnings will, however, be spent on the road, in pursuance of the sound conservative policy which now governs the management. * The advices from Albany this afternoon were to the effect that the House would agree to no Gold bill which does not permit the banks and insurance companies to lend par on gold. Congress, which ia the especial guardian of the national currency, deemed it suflicieat to prohibit loans of over par, and it is surely unreasonable to expect our Legis- lature to outdo Congress in the matter.
