Included among the exports to Liverpool are $350,000 of cotton. We ought to be beginning to receive some more cotton from those portions of the South which are under the control of our forces. It is understood that an experiment of negro labor ,in Florida is about to be undertaken Money continues to work very smoothly, the cent. Exchange advanced this merning, in compan: with gold, and there were sales at is, to the Afternoon, on the strength of absurd rumors of Propositions of penee, bills dropped to 134% a 135%, which was the closing quotation. Gold opened at 124, and gradually declmed to 12134> then rallied to 122% a %, which was the closing at 19%. Stocks continued to advance this morning, and prices were higher than yesterday; in the after- noon there was quite a reaotion, and the advance Of the morning wee” At the close agaig people are weary of tremendous markets, in which stocks rise 1 per cent an hour; even the bulls are willing to sce the suri panes fon five ev or two, Stil? the busi- Me done to-day was Very laze IMA? ag yg outside buyiug Yery active. At the morning board New York Central sold at 104, an advance of two per cent; Hudson rose 1, Michigan Cen- tral 4%, Mlinois Centrai 1, Galena 34, Toledo 1%, Fort Wayne 3%. The other railway shaves were generally steady at yesterday’s prices, The greatest advance of the day was in Fort Wayne stock, which, though very slightly known here, is daily rising in public esteem, and will probably hereafter take rank as one of the most active rail- way shares. In bonds a large business was don Chicago and Northwestern assented bonds rose 1 per cent, Fort Wayne firsts 2,&c., &c. Govern- ment sixes were }{ hetter, and were in pretty fair demand, The coupons on the 7.30 notes (Octo- ber) will be paid at the Sub-Treasury to- morrow. After the board to-day the market was rather dull, and there was sdme realizing. At the second board the decline in gold led to a cor- responding deeline in stocks. New York Central fell off 124, Hudson 1%, Ulineis Central %, Erie ¥, and other stocks in proportion. Toledo, which was one of the most active shares on the list to- day, fell from 70 to 69. It is understood that the company has disposed of $900,000 of their sinking funds at 90, and that they are offered a higher price for the remainder. It is presumed that the payment of the dividend has only been deferred till this negotiation has been closed. Erie prefer- red was in active request this afternoon It is still selling twenty per cent below New York Central, though railway men consider that there is little to choose between the two.
