Small, of Paltimor son, of the United States Marine Corps; D. ndis, and R. M. sherman, of Fall River. Turn 8. L. Daw- vbb, of Tili- A Ssccoren Cavunt ty His Own Trav.—AnEnglishman, giving his name a8 Hannibal Moore, appeared at the Twenty-soventh precinct station house yesterday and complained that he had been robbed by William Donald. son, proprietor of a boarding house at No. 25 Greenwich streot. fe stated that he had brought a package con. taining 90,000 needles from Kuglond, for the purpose of selling therm in this country, and that while stopping at the hotel of the accused the greater part of the pro. perty was purloined. Donaldson was arrested at the in- stance of the compltinaut, when the prisoner made somo revelations respecting the character of his guest which lod the officer to believe that he bad accidentally got upon the track of a smug Upon searching Moore's baggé ge he soon found cions to be correct, for in a trank owned by the plainant was fornd a large quantity of jewelry and hardware, which had nly pever jpareéed through tho Custom House. The tabies were completely turned upon Moore, and he was con- fined in a ceil in the samo station house with Donaldaon. Tho prisoners will bo examined in full to-day—Moore be- fore the United States Commisfioner, and Donaldson be- fore Justice Connolly, at the Tombs. Election of @ Delegate to Congr Dacotah, Omama, N. T,, Sept. 11, 1862, Returns of the election for a delegate to Cangrese from Dacotah place the election @f J. B, 8. Todd beyonda dour from TU. © Y, Si Pie BEE “a Pubuy: Sept. 12-6 P.M. The money market is quite easy. Five percent is still the general rate for call loans; but we hear of large amounts offered atfour. None of the established houses are willing to allow five per cent for moncy left with them on deposit, and very few care about receiving money even at four. Certificates of indebtedness sold again to-day at 9814, and are quoted 9834, At ,these rates they are a tempting investment to parties who have been accustomed to employ their money in the purchase of government paper, as they yield 8 per cent per annum, six of which is payable in coin, and the balance in legal tender money. Gold has been irregular to-day. It opened with anactive demand, and sold up to 119%; after- ward it fell off and closed about 119% a. Ex- change is inactive, without change of price. Leading bankers ask 131; buyers are unwilling to give over 130% for the best bills, and transactions are occa- sionally made on this basis. The dry goods im- porters continue to require a good many bills, not- withstanding the tariff, which, according to their representations, was going to put an end to their trade forever. Last week the importations of dry goods amounted to $1,441,000, against $396,000 same week last year, and $2,005,000 same week of 1860. Our aggregate importations of dry goods for the year to date amount to $40,334,000, against $35,448,000 to same date in 1861, and $80,357,000 to same date in 1860. The more candid among the importers do not disguise their belief that they will do a fair trade this fall. They say that the foreign manufacturers will alter their styles to suit the new tariff, and that our people will buy as many goods as ever, notwithstanding the advance in price. Stocks were not very active to-day, and Wall street was not as lively as it has been, The weather may have operated to check business, as well as the absence of startling rumors. At the first board the market opened steadily, but closed with a downward tendency. Between the boards there was rather loss pressure to seli, At the second board prices recovered somewhat, but without reaching yesterday's figures; the market closed quite steady. Comparing the closing prices of the day with those of yesterday, we note a decline of ¥% in government sixes, 1 in 7.30 notes, % in Tennessees, % in Missouris, 5% in Pacific Mail, 4 in New York Central, 34 in Erie, 34 in Erie pre- ferred, 1 in Hudson River, 4 in Harlem, 34 in Har- lem preferred, 2 in Reading, lin Michigan Cen- tral, 4 in Southern old, 5% in guaranteed, % in Tilinois Central, 44 in Galena, 3% in Toledo, % in Rock Island.
