AN ENGLISHMAN STannED ON THE JeRsEY Crry Ferny Boat.— ‘On Sunday afternoon an Englishman, whose name is Young, while on the ferry boat J.C. Darcy, runningto Jersey City, became quite conspicuous by expressing in a public manner his opinion of the Mason and Slidell affair, and re- marking that the Yankees would have had tosmella little of John Bull’s gunpowder if they had not come up to the scratch and given them up. Another person, whose name ‘wo could notlearn, became quite crazed over Young's remarks, and for a while the two had a pretty warm con- troversy over the matter. Finally the boat landed, and just as was going off the boat some unknown ‘per. son stabbed him. ‘Though done with a penknife, the wound was found to be quite serious, and he was ‘con- veyed toa vessel near by, and ationded by Dr. Varick. It was very remarkable that no person saw who the party was that committed the act, not even Young him- self. The injury will not, it is said, prove fatal. BUARDING A!
