Former aids and officers un- der Miramon, and those very men who directed the guns and mortars upon our city, are parading the streets of Vera Cruz. The only example of onerey. shown by the general government of Mexico has been the execution of Don Anastasio Trejo, who was found conspiring in the city of Mexico, and consequently caught and shot ten hours afterwards. This Trejo belonged onee to the beral party, and be- haved bravely in the defence of the Castle of Perote when besieged by Echeagaray some two or three years ago. On evacuatirg the Castle, Trejo came with about 100 men, forming the garrison to Vera Cruz, and had a prince- ly reception. ‘The general government, then established here, con- ferred on him the title of General, and ordered him to the neighborhood of Orizaba against Negrete, at Oriziba. There this Trejo turned traitor, was bought over by Ne- grete, through a woman, wno was sacrificed for that pur- pore. and since then traitor Trejo has been a devoted officer im the ranks of Miramop and the church party.
