The Jacob Bell has cleared for Hong Kong with 86,009 feet of lumber, and wheat and flour equivalent to 4,536 barrels, The Lizzie Spauiding has cleared for Australia ‘With 17,600 sacks of wheat and 2,120 barrels of flour. ‘The market for certain descriptions of goods continues fairly active, with an advancing teudency, but in others there is not much doing. Of bacon, there wore sales of 1,600 bhds. J, H. L. and Barbier’s to speculators at 120. a 12Xc. Thou- sands of claims bave been taken, and many are stam peding from the gold digzings to the silver mines. The California gulch continues to pay richly, and in the McNulty, Georgia and Humbug gulches the miners aro realizing sums from nothing to $60 to the man ‘The weather is cold in the Southern mines, and there bas been a light fall of snow in the Gregory diggings. Some owners, discouraged in quartz mills, are selling out at below cost, but the general feeling is one of in creasing confidence, andfthere is a steady increase of suc- cess in separating the gold from the quartz. . In Denver City business is reviving, and many of the merchants are starting for the river to purchase their winter stock. Some dissppointed emigrants are also going. From $40,000 to $50,000 in dust per week is now leay- ing for the river, mostiy in private hands, while Clark, Graber & Co, are receiving and coining about $2,000 per day. The Santa Fe mail, with dates to the 14th tast., arrived here to-day. ‘The Fifth infantry, from Utah, arrived at Santa Fe oo the 11th inst., and their arrival somewhat revived busi- ness, which was very dull The troops are en rowis for Fart DeGance. ‘The Indians are still hostile, but there has been no out- break of any consequence since the last mail. No Indians were seen on the route, but fresh trails were seen where they croseed the road at two places. The troope are pushing them, and they have no time to tarry long in one place.
